I have hip and knee joint replacements. Can I use the amethyst Bio-mat mini or PEMF Photon Mat?
Some joint replacements with metals may be warmed by infrared rays or react to pulsed magnetic therapy. Some safety precautions should be taken if you lay with joint replacements in direct contact with the mat.
If you lay on your back and knee or hip replacements are above the mat, there should not be a problem.
If you have modern titanium implants, they usually reflect FIR rays, so they should be generally safe. Titanium is only slightly magnetic. It does not perceptively interact with static magnets or PEMF, so it should be safe for such therapy.
But of course, if you feel any discomfort in the implant area, it would be better to decrease the temperature and procedure length or to turn the PEMF function OFF.
There should not be any contraindication for red light therapy.
It is advised that you consult your surgeon and possibly a representative from the joint replacement manufacturer to be certain before using the infrared or PEMF mat, especially on high heat levels.
These answers are addressing only our MediCrystal mats.
Bio-Mat is the brand name of another company, Richway — so if you have any questions about their products, please ask them directly.
