My mat is hard, it is ok for half an hour but then I feel the crystals’ pressure on my back, can I use a topper or something else to make it softer?

Amethyst crystals make our mats stiff and hard. This is great for short-term procedures, as it imparts some acupressure-like benefits but may cause a somewhat painful feeling if overused.

If you would like to lay for a long time or even sleep on your mat, start with shorter procedures and move forward slowly.

We included the MediCrystal 3-D Air Mesh Pad with your mat to make it softer.

MediCrystal 3-D Air Mesh Pad is not just a cover; these pads are specially made to eliminate extra pressure from the ribbed sections with crystals and hot stones. Though they dissipate some heat, these Air Mesh pads cushion mats and may be useful in the beginning as your body is getting familiar with the mat. They are precious for leaner body types which would naturally be more sensitive to pressure.

We recommend MediCrystal pads for sleeping on the mat or for lengthy low-intensity sessions on our stone mats.

We have recently developed these new pads for our mats with the main concentration on their outstanding permeability.  We made them highly breathable for better FIR and ion penetration. We made these new pads with a 3-dimensional mesh technology similar to the Richway Quantum Pad, just thinner. We include this with your mat free of charge, whereas similar pads from other suppliers are rather expensive can cost almost half the price of the mat.

Please, remember that these new models of MediCrystal pads are hand washable. As with the mat itself, the 3-D Pad can be disinfected once a week by leaving it on the mat for an hour on the highest heat setting.  This should be enough to keep it clean.

When you first start to use the mat, if you still feel uncomfortable and want to both protect the MediCrystal Pad and make the surface softer, we recommend putting several layers of cotton or bamboo sheets or towels, or a special washable waterproof protective cover (also included with the MediCrystal Mat) on the top of these pads.

Thick 3-D pads (with possible extra towels/sheets/covers on the top) are better for longer non-intensive procedures when it is important to have a soft but permeable cushion on the mat to avoid overstimulation, or even pain, which can be caused by the crystals’ and stones’ pressure on the back after long-term exposure.

Later, as soon as your body gets used to the mat’s pressure, you can take away the extra layers one by one and even use a bare mat or a mat with a thin sheet or protector when you are ready.

PEMF (if installed) and the most useful part of far infrared radiant crystal heat will travel through the MediCrystal Pad, and the natural material of the topper (cotton, bamboo, wool) to your body, as well as negative ions, and this will help you be more comfortable laying on the mat.

Our pillowcase style, padded, thick covers, or thin covers with elastic straps are great to protect the mat from water spills, sweat, smell, dirt, bed mites, and bacteria by a built-in one way permeable Dancel membrane (similar to Gore-tex, used for alpine ski or sailors' suits) and special materials, keeping the surface dry.

They are especially needed if you use the mat for sauna-like high heat procedures that involve sweating. All mats have waterproof layers inside to protect the electrical systems, but it would be much better to protect the mat’s upper layer with crystals. Thin covers do it perfectly, and they do not dissipate so much heat. Or you can use a towel or a sheet on a bare mat.

The towels can be easily machine washed and dried. Though they lack a waterproof barrier, the bamboo or cotton towels are still great to make your mat softer.

The sheets, towels, and thin coves can also be used on top of the mat without the MediCrystal 3-D Padded Protector, especially for short time high heat procedures when the acupressure effect of the hard crystals and full heating energy is desirable, or if your body has already got used to mat pressure.

The special thin waterproof protective covers are also machine washable.

They are breathable and permeable for ions, FIR heat, magnetic waves, etc.; like our pads, they also absorb sweat and keep the mat dry.
