I see that different covers and protectors are used for different MediCrystal mats — what is the difference between them?

We have developed several types of covers to customize our mats and make them more comfortable for users. 

Three of these covers are breathable waterproof protectors, great for absorbing sweat and keeping the mat clean. 

These protectors are multilayered, with a built-in one-way permeable, waterproof, heat-stable PVC-free Dancel membrane, allowing moisture to evaporate from the mat and keep sweat spills, smells, dirt, and bed mites away. 

And the fourth cover is a thick 3D Air Mesh Pad for cushioning the mat. It is very softening.

Your mat set should include, free of charge, at least one protective cover, but usually, we include a pair of different items or a combination of a Thick Protector or a 3-D Pad with a Thin Protector. So you may have one or two of the following covers:

1. Thick Protective Cover with the MediCrystal logo on the top and built-in thin 3-D Air Mesh Pad permeable for FIR rays, ions. It also keeps the contact surfaces between the body and the mat dry. This protector is included with the MediCrystal Mat for cushioning the mat, distributing body weight, and buffering the crystals’ pressure either while sleeping on the mat or for long sessions.

2. Thick High Absorption Waterproof Quilted Multilayer Protector, with a zipper all around to put the mat inside and protect the bottom. As with the other covers, it is permeable for FIR rays and ions. It is great for absorbing sweat and keeping the contact surfaces between the body and the mat dry.

3. Thick 3-D AIR MESH PAD to cushion the mat, distribute bodyweight, buffer the crystals’ pressure either while sleeping on the mat or during longer sessions. This is especially effective at the beginning of the mat’s hardness is an issue.  

4. Thin Waterproof Cover with 4-cornered elastic straps to be used on top of the 3-D Pad Protector or top of the mat directly. Great for short and high intensive procedures.

If you have two items, it is always recommended to put the washer- and dryer-friendly thinner cover on top of the non-washable thicker 3-D Pad when one of the Thick protectors or the 3-D Pad is also used.

Any of these 4 items (usually a pair) may be included free of charge as part of your complete FIR Mat set. 

You can purchase additional MediCrystal protectors or 3-D pads directly from us at $60-$150 each, depending on the model.

All protectors are great for heating procedures or for cushioning. They are permeable to far Infrared rays, negative ions, PEMF, and functions other than red light photon therapy, which you need to lay on the bare mat to absorb.

Please note that more heat will dissipate if you put the thicker extra layer on top of the crystals. So for high intensive detox “FIR Sauna” types of thermo-therapy, it is better to use the mat alone or with a Thin cover. 

Or, if you use the Thick 3-D Pad or Thick Protector, you may choose a higher temperature level or longer procedure time.

Some experienced users use the bare mat, but it's better to cushion and protect it if you start with the mat.

If the mat is used in a professional environment with different customers, a disposable underpad is usually placed on top.
